Suenc powers sculpture at MWC in Barcelona

Sun Effects crafted a sculpture for Kingfisher for this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to symbolize the circular economy. It was proudly powered by Suenc.

'Circulation' as the sculpture was called consisted of 80 refurbished smartphones that were mounted next to each other on a large spiral. Each phone played a fullscreen video. All those videos were only a small slice of one large video. It looked like the smartphones formed one big screen in the form of a spiral. In order to achieve the desired effect the smartphones had to play the videos in perfect sync.

Sun Effects was looking for a solution to synchronize the phones at the venue without internet access. The phones were connected to a wireless network but the network itself was offline to keep the system as autark as possible. They chose Suenc to power the synchronization since it is capable of running locally as a Docker container. Suenc additionally provides all the necessary client-side libraries to synchronize videos in a browser.
